Mustang 4
Here at Will Rogers we follow the Mustang 4. We set clear expectations, teach the expected behaviors, and regularly acknowledge students for things they do well.

Merit System for Extracurricular Eligibility
In an effort to maintain a positive, productive learning environment for all students throughout the year, Rogers has moved to a merit system. Because participation in school-sponsored extracurricular activities is a privilege, we expect students to put forth their best effort, on a daily basis, to demonstrate the Mustang 4.
All students begin the year with 100 merits and must have at least 90 merits in order to participate in school activities like dances, rallies, field days, and field trips. Students with 89 merits or less are placed on the Improvement List. Students are able to see their merits in the student Q under activities on a daily basis. Also, periodically and especially prior to upcoming events, a list of students on the Improvement List (with students identified only by student ID number) will be posted to our PBIS bulletin board. Students are responsible for being aware of their merit status. Merits reset after the 1st quarter. Quarters 2, 3, and 4 are combined, with students having opportunities to earn back merits in restorative ways.
100 merits |
Platinum Level |
Great Work! Student is eligible for all social activities and other rewards |
99-90 |
Gold Level |
No consequences/ineligible for Platinum Rewards, but able to attend standard events |
89 -76 |
Improvement List |
Students are placed on the Improvement List for 20 school days and are not allowed to participate in the following school functions: dances, field trips, assemblies/rallys, field days, and other functions the school notes as being part of the Improvement List. Students must have at least gotten back to 90 merits to get off the Improvement List after 20 school days. |
75 or less |
Cocoon/ Behavior Contract |
Cocoon Contract - Cocoon contract isolates students from friends during passing periods. Students on Cocoon contract participate fully in all of their classes. Students who successfully complete a day of Cocoon will earn 1 merit. Once they have achieved 90 merits or more, the Cocoon contract will dissolve. |
Merits may be earned by different restorative activities depending on what caused students to lose a merit. Restorative activities must be approved by Vice Principals/team and completed by the student in order for students to earn merits back. Merits may be earned through the end of the day prior to the event. For example, a student who wishes to attend a Thursday evening dance may earn merits through Wednesday after school.
Merits are deducted for a variety of actions, including being tardy to class, electronic device violations, and dress code and behavior infractions.
